He and his brother decided to try something different than what they do every year. They got a 'any bull' tag and we headed for Flaming Gorge.
It was snowing while we were driving up there.. it snowed the first two days we were there. 2 feet. Brr!
And of course, the un-organized mother that I am, didnt bring the right size snow boots for my cute miles. :-/ , we had to improvise. gage wore mine (thank goodness they're blue) and miles wore gages. we made it work, but when it was time to hike with allen, guess who wasnt prepared... me.
anyways..
the kids kept themselves busy, they met a friend there, we'll call him "P", im thankful P was there, he really helped keep the kids busy out in the cold when i didnt want to go out. they sawed and chopped wood, made a snow fort (with allens help), snowball fights with each other, explored, more snowball fights with allen and uncle denny, played 'Sorry' the board game, Skipbo, shot BB guns, read (yes, gage caught up on some off-track homework), all three boys learned how to drive our 4 wheelers (i have to say im a bit jealous, it took me forever to learn how to drive those, because they have a clutch).
but we had fun, the kids amazed me, again. they are some pretty good hikers. they kept right up with allen, of course they left me trailing behind a few times.
one of the others guys in our party got his elk, it was quite the view from our kitchen window looking at it hanging in the tree. then when they guys quartered it, it was like the chainsaw massacre, and the boys loved it (barf)!
allen had no luck this weekend, but he will be going back up there next weekend with his brother to try again.
